This is one of my favorite photos that I snapped from the Trockner Steg. On the left you have the Gandegg T-bar lift and on the right Furggsattel Gletscherbahn that was closed due to wind at the time I took the photo.
Twin peaks in the middle – on the right is the Taschorn (4491m) and on the left Dom (Dom de Mischabel – 4545m). Even though Dom is not the highest peak in Switzerland, it is the highest mountain completely in Swiss territory.
This is the view of the village from the Matterhorn Express Cabin on the way to the Furi station. Both Taschorn and Dom de Mischabel can be seen again on this picture.
Weisshorn is yet another mighty mountain that can be found in the Valais canton. Weisshorn is a 3 ridged pyramid with its peak at 4506m! Pennine Alps do really have impressive peaks.
Here we have Dent Blanche – 4356m. If you look from higher placed places around the ski area of Zermatt it can be seen as the first peak left of Matterhorn.
Finally the almighty Monte Rosa (4634m)! The highest point on the Monte Rosa is Dufourspitze – on the right, which is the highest peak in Switzerland, and the second highest peak of the Alps.
View from Trockner Steg – on the very left Rimpfischhorn (4199m) Strahlhorn (4190m) – then there is a ‘gap’ in the middle with the mentioned Gorner glacier and finally the Monte Rosa on the right.
Another view from Trockner Steg – on the very left Weisshorn and on the right twins Dom & Taschorn. Zermatt down the valley and the Jungfrau region far in the middle hidden in clouds with one peak visible.
A similar view as the #10 photo. This time you can see the Jungfrau region far in the middle on the horizon very clearly. This picture was taken in mid-February although it looks like in early November ~ global warming is no joke!
From the left: Dom (4545m) & Taschorn (4491m) – Alphubel (4206m) – Allalinhorn (4027m) – Rimpfischhorn (4199m) – Strahlhorn (4190m)! Below these giants you can see the skiing area Rothorn paradise & Gornergrat!
The cable car to Klein Matterhorn ends in the mountain, fabulous piece of engineering! When you get of the cable car up there, you have to cross the mountain with a tunnel that goes through the rock!
A view from Klein Matterhorn to the Italian valley – Testa Grigia (3480m) the end station of the cable car from Cervinia. You can see Mont Blanc on the horizon a little bit to the left from the middle. To be able to spot Mt. Blanc a bit easier you[...]
View from the first platform at Klein Matterhorn on a very windy day. In the middle there is Castor (4226m) and on the left, the two big peaks, you can see Lyskamm West (4480m) and behind it Lyskamm East (4527m).
This is my favorite view of Breithorn (4164m). It looks like from a fairy tale thanks to the snow-hat on top of it. Far in the background you can also see Strahlhorn (4190 m).
This is how Mont Blanc can be seen from the Klein Matterhorn viewpoint. There was a lot of snow blown into the air by wind, so the photo is not that clear and pretty.
This is the highest ski lift in Europe, possibly in the whole world. It will take you to Gobba di Rollin enabling you to reach magnificent 3899 meters above sea level with any hiking. It operates only in the summer.
On this picture I focus on the Testa Grigia (3480m). You can see the end station of a cable car and also a few restaurants that are pretty cheap if you take into account how high you have your lunch served!
This is yet another picture of Testa Grigia, which is situated on the border of Switzerland and Italy. One of the possible ways to get there is via two T-lifts from Trockner Steg.
Lets have a look at my favorite Furggsattel Gletscherbahn. This six-chair started operation during 2006 and improved the Matterhorn ski area. It was early in the morning and the slope was hit by a shadow of Klein Matterhorn.
This photograph might give you an idea how the Gornergrat (on the right) is situated. It is also connected with Hohtälli via cable car. On the photo you can also see a little black box between the two stations – that is Stockhorn.
This is the Stockhorn station located at 3405 meters above sea level. This station operates from the end of January or even later depending on the snow cover.
On the last photo of this gallery I will focus on Alphubel (4206m) in the middle and the Rothorn paradise below it. The highest station is Rothorn (3103m) accessible via a cable car from Blauherd (bottom-left of the pic).
